IGDA (International Game Developers Association)

IGDA is a place where you can do some stuff for free but if you're looking to get an official membership it will cost you some money. Becoming a member can be done via multiple plans which we’ll cover later. First, let’s talk about how you can get involved in IGDA for free. IGDA has professional and academic chapters opened around the world. The academic chapter is specifically for those who attend the academic institution of the chapter, and professional chapters serving all individuals. You can find a list of all the chapters and if there is one near you you can attend chapter meetings and events. However, these are under the control of each chapter, and rules and guidelines may vary.

Here are some of the things you can do for free:

  • Join the IGDA Discord and the Discord for your local chapter

  • Get involved with your local chapter

  • Volunteer at your Local Chapter or Special Interest Group (SIG)

  • Keep an eye out for volunteer opportunities with IGDA HQ at IGDA.org
